About this Text

The 14th century text Delle Proprietà degli Animali by Franco Sacchetti is a derivation of the Fiore di virtù, which assigns virtues and vices to particular animals. Sacchetti’s version includes only the animal descriptions, discarding the moralizations.

The manuscript Gigli used for his edition was Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, Ashb.574, folio 79r-80r.
