Bestiari : Bestiari català
Publicacions de la Universitat de València, 2010
"Bestiari", adapted by the entomologist and director of the Institute of Evolutionary Biology of Barcelona, Xavier Bellés, discovers the medieval vision of fauna and nature through forty-five cards of various animals, illustrated by the Valencian artist Moisés Mahiques. Medieval bestiaries are works of prose that present the characteristics of real or imaginary animal species and make a symbolic interpretation. The first bestiaries are documented as early as the beginning of the 12th century, although their antecedents go back much further in time. With this edition, Mètode makes the “Catalan Bestiary” available to the reader in current language. In addition, Professor Bellés has also been in charge of making a careful introduction where he contextualizes the medieval bestiaries and, specifically, the "Catalan Bestiary". - [Abstract]
