This article is a discussion of the tradition of medieval animal texts in Italian, including the Bestiario moralizzato di Gubbio, two Italian encyclopedic bestiaries, and particularly the Tuscan Bestiary. With descriptions of 12 of the Tuscan Bestiary manuscripts and lists of animals.
