Firenze: Edizioni del Galluzzo per la Fondazione Ezio Franceschini, 2020; Series: Archivio Romanzo, 36
An edition of the Italian (Tuscan) Bestiary, also called Libro della natura degli animali.
The Libro della natura degli animali (also known as the Tuscan Bestiary) is the first moralized bestiary in prose of Italian literature. Composed in the last quarter of the XIII using Latin and French sources, this text was copied until the end of the fifteenth century and had a considerable diffusion in the Tuscan area, in the northern Italy and in Catalonia, where it was translated into Catalan in the first half of the fifteenth century. This volume offers a critical edition, for the first time based on a complete analysis of direct and indirect tradition. - [Publisher]
