The sea-ass is found in some medieval encyclopedias. It is the ocean equivalent of the ass (donkey) found on land. It has the body of a fish and the head of an ass.

To cure people of frenzy, the flesh of a sea-ass is burned in a new pot and mixed with the ass's blood; the mixture is applied in a bath. The mixture can also dissolve kidney stones.
