They sleep all winter as if dead
General Attributes
The dormouse is called glis from gliscere, to grow, because sleep makes them grow fat. They sleep all winter motionless as if dead, but come alive again in summer.

Those who are slothful and sluggish and do not want to work are like the dormouse. Such people will beg in vain at the judgment day and will not deserve the joys of heaven.
