Description
Contains the Greek version of the Physiologus attributed to Epiphanius of Salamis (ca. 310-403). Illustrated with water color drawings.
The illustrations in this manuscript are very similar to those in another Greek Physiologus, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Barb.gr.438, though the images in this manuscript are much better.
While most of the illustrations depict standard Physiologus animals displaying their usual characteristics, there are several birds in this manuscript that could not be identified, as well as a very strange scene (folio 52v) that is a mystery.
