Description
The second family bestiary is on folio 8r-42v, illustrated with simple line drawings with occasional touches of color. It is not always obvious which illustrations belongs in each beast chapter, and some illustrations are clearly in the wrong chapters. There are two illustrated beasts that do not usually appear in bestiaries: the octopus on folio 25v and the barnacle goose on folio 25v-26r.
There is a partial illustrated lapidary (book of stones) on folio 42v-45r, which includes a common bestiary subject, the fire stones (space left for an illustration that was not completed).
Moralis quidam libellus, praecipue de bestiis, Patribus aliquotiens invocatis atque multis imaginibus adiectis.
The text refers to Gregory the Great (Moralia in Job), Saint Ambrose and the Physiologus as its sources.
